Greetings to you, lovely soul, and welcome our series of articles that aim to provide you with tools, inspiration, and insight on how to empower yourself.

How do you react when you are stuck in traffic, the check-out line at your grocery store just doesn’t seem to move, it’s been foggy for days, you can’t reach your toes in yoga practice? Naturally, feelings of irritation, impatience, anger, and frustration may arise. When we are not aware of our old programing, behavior, thoughts, and emotions, we don’t question the way we respond to things that are happening to us. Depending on your mood that day your reaction may be more or less intense, however, the way you deal with the situation may be similar to how you handled things in the past.

What is happening for you internally when you can’t reach your toes in yoga class while practicing Paschimottansana (seated forward bend), continue to loose your balance in Vrkasana (tree pose), or have challenges keeping your mind focused and calm? Do you begin comparing yourself to others, judge and criticize yourself? I get it, we have all been there. Just remember, that those actions steal away the joy and ease that we could be experiencing.

We may not be in control of things that happen to us, but we are always in control of how we respond. Tweet this!

I encourage you to find ways to reframe and change things into a more positive experience when possible. This does not mean that you have to tolerate unacceptable situations. Simply see if you can connect back to your breath in yoga practice, close your eyes and bring your awareness within. Check in with your body and stay true to yourself and your needs. The next time you are waiting in line or are stuck in traffic, consider practicing some pranayama by lengthening your in- and exhales, cultivating mindfulness by taking in all the details, doing some simple yoga (like rolling your shoulders, shifting your weight onto one foot), or performing acts of loving-kindness towards to those around you, either directly or by your intention of sending them positive energy.

I would like to hear from you. Please share your comments, thoughts and feedback!
If you haven’t already, please also connect on social media (see buttons below), on the Mendocino Healing website or via email and let me know your thoughts.

Empowering yourself starts from within. In the upcoming articles we’ll continue to look at ways to empower ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

It’s time to shine your light! ✨
Many blessings from my heart to yours ?
