Greetings to you, lovely soul, and welcome our series of articles that aim to provide you with tools, inspiration, and insight on how to empower yourself.

“The world is changed by your example,
Not your opinion.”

 ~ Paolo Coelho

Have you ever been confronted with a problem, and as you were communicating it, you realized that others jumped right in, trying to give you advice without even having heard your full story?

Most likely you felt unheard, misunderstood, irritated or wrong. How often has somebody tried to solve your issue by cutting you off and telling you what to do? How often has someone turned the story to be about themselves instead of being there for you?

Receiving good advice is very valuable, however, it needs to come at the right time, from the right place, and with lots of acceptance and kindness.

One of the most precious gifts we can give to others is give them our time, and to listen by being completely present. Tweet this!

Let your mind be calm and just be there for the other person. Be present and assure them that you are there for them. When they are ready, consider giving them advice. That may be the same day or at some later time. Listen to your intuition/gut feeling or ask them up front if they are open to receiving some feedback. Remember, that your view on the situation comes from your own perspective and life experience. Present it with kindness, compassion and without expectations. Know in your heart, that you helped because you were present.

Relating this to yoga practice, we take the art of listening within. As we move through our asanas (poses), pranayama (breath work) or meditation, we cultivate compassion and acceptance, meet the needs of our body, and quieten the mind. We are completely present with what is, no matter if we are on or off the mat.

I would love to hear your insights and wisdom, too! Please share your comments, thoughts and feedback in the comments of this blog, or via email.

If you haven’t already, please also connect on social media (see buttons below), on the Mendocino Healing website or via email and let me know your thoughts.

Empowering yourself starts from within. In the upcoming articles we’ll continue to look at ways to empower ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

It’s time to shine your light! ✨

Many blessings from my heart to yours ?

Tanja
