“A human being is fashioned with innumerable qualities
which makes a soul shine in the darkness
like a candle lighting up every nook and cranny of the universe…
A human is a soul carrying a flame forever.”
~ Malika E. Nura

The time of the Indian festival Diwali invites us to honor the light, love and beauty within and around us.
Diwali is the joyous Festival of Lights which celebrates the victory of good over evil. This year it is celebrated on October 30.

Discover and awaken your inner light, and let it illuminate your life!

Here are some ideas on how to celebrate for your consideration.

Take some time to reflect on your inner light and shadow side. Without judgement investigate if you are holding on to any grudges, angers, or carrying burdens of blame, judgment, unforgiveness, or shame. Shine some light into the darker places of your soul. Awareness is always the first step. Then see if you can replace some of the negative emotions with love, compassion, and forgiveness.

Take this time to focus on the good within yourself and the world around you. If you can, stop watching or reading the news (that mostly reports negative things) for a while.
Cultivate a spiritual practice, like meditation, prayer, yoga, or anything that lets your inner light shine.

You may consider acquiring new candles (or use the ones you have) and place some of them in your window. As you light them (the ones in the windows to welcome new beginnings), take a few moments to sit quietly, deepen your breath and enjoy the light around you and within you.

“Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened.
Happiness never decreases by being shared.”
~ The Buddha

As you become aware of the divine light within yourself, go ahead and shine your light into the world. Follow your passions and share your love, light, kindness, happiness, compassion, and grace with others!

With gratitude, blessings, light and appreciation,

Tanja
