Please join me for the upcoming Meditation and Pranayama Workshop to take your yoga practice deeper and your awareness to a new level.
You may be asking what is Pranayama.
Prāṇāyāma (Sanskrit: प्राणायाम prāṇāyāma) is a Sanskrit word meaning “extension of the prāṇa or breath” or “extension of the life force” and it is the practice of controlling our breath.
We will explore different breathing techniques, that you can apply during your yoga practice, in your every day life or in specific situations to soothe, calm and center yourself.
Breath influences our wellbeing, mood and health. It helps us focus and deepens our awareness, especially when practiced with mindfulness.
We all know, how important the quality of our breath is and how it can help you ease into your asana (yoga posture), bring you back into the present moment, clear thoughts and emotions, and convey a feeling of focus, balance and peacefulness.
Once we calmed our minds through the power of our conscious breathing, the workshop will guide you through a few simple meditation techniques. Choose what works best for you and take your experience home with you.
Here are a few benefits of a regular meditation practice:
-
Meditation balances your mind, body, spirit and emotions,
-
brings harmony and inner peace,
-
decreases stress and tension (as well as tension headaches and other tension related imbalances),
-
increases happiness by releasing serotonin which improves your mood,
-
lowers high blood pressure,
-
increases energy levels,
-
sharpens the mind,
-
awakens intuition and greater awareness,
-
and reminds you that happiness is determined by your attitude and thoughts.
The workshop will take place on Tuesday, February 10th, 2.45 – 4.00 p.m. Fee: $20
Register today to reserve your spot. Space is limited.
