6 Things You Didn’t Know about Reiki

Reiki is a system of natural healing involving the gentle laying on of hands and is probably thousands of years old. The word “Reiki” is Japanese and can be translated as “universal life force energy”.

Here are some interesting things you may not have known about Reiki.

1. Boosts your energy level

Receiving a Reiki treatment turns out to be a different experience for everyone.
Most people experience a deep calm during the session and then a boost of energy later. Your body feels refreshed, and your mind clear.
When you learn this natural healing technique and begin to use it on yourself regularly, you will notice a shift of greater energy over time.

2. Flows where it is needed

You may think that you come to a Reiki treatment to release a physical condition and find out that Reiki may work on an emotional issue. The emotional issue may have triggered the physical condition in your body or may be unrelated. Reiki energy finds a way to go deep and to where you need it most. It works on all levels, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

3. Soothes mosquito bites

Tired of the scratching the itchy bite on your skin? I found it surprising but applying Reiki helps to soothe and calm the itchiness. Depending on the bite it may just help temporarily or get it to stop itching long enough for you to forget about the bite and get on with enjoying your life.

4. Everyone can learn Reiki

Reiki is not a religion or only available to a specific group of people. You already have a certain amount of healing energy. Have you ever noticed that when you for example hit your elbow you may have put your hand on the spot? You are intuitively using your innate healing energy.
Reiki opens you up to receiving more of that energy and therefore makes it more powerful.

5. Supports healing

Reiki is a natural first aid kit that you can use for minor burns, cuts, or scrapes, for headaches, sore throats, etc. When applied promptly it speeds up the healing process and relieves the pain.

6. Animals love it

Animals are very receptive to Reiki and enjoy receiving the energy.
If you are a Reiki practitioner, begin by placing your hands behind their ears, on their back, or belly. They intuitively know where they need it and usually stretch that body part in your direction. When they have enough, they will walk away.
