“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

4. Embrace yourself

“Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.”
~ Stacey Charter

Make it a habit to listen to your heart, be true to yourself, authentic, kind, and compassionate. Like, or even better, love yourself for who you are with all your imperfections.

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”
George Bernard Shaw

When you do what feels right, treat yourself and others with kindness, and accept who you are and where you are in your life, you invite contentment, harmony, and peace into your life.
Wear clothing that makes you feel good! Pamper yourself! Be silly, have fun. Every day is a gift, enjoy it!
As much as you can, think happy thoughts, cultivate a joyful, compassionate and kind attitude & belief system and you choose happiness!

5. Take care of yourself

“On a deeper level you are already complete.
When you realize that, there is a playful, joyous energy behind what you do.”
~ Eckhart Tolle

Accept yourself for who you are. If you make a mistake or feel blue, find a way to soothe yourself. Reach out to others, take a bath, do yoga, eat some chocolate…
Treat yourself the way you treat your husband/wife/best friend. Say only things you would say to your loved ones, and that also goes for your thoughts. When you notice self-criticism, or judgement creeping in, take a moment to consider if you can exchange it for some motivating, loving thoughts and see how that feels.
Reward yourself. Find some time to relax, stretch, take a walk, or a yoga class, do some baking, cooking, reading, take your furry friend for a walk, watch a sunset, or the moon, pamper yourself to an aromatherapy bath, soaking away any stress, light some candles…. Be creative and listen within to see what your needs are. You deserve it!

6. Pursue your dreams, listen to your heart, live your passion

“Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”
~ Joseph Campbell

In my view this is one of the most important aspects to finding your true happiness. Follow that inner calling, explore your talents and gifts. Even if you think that you might not have any special skills, just observe what you love to do, and/or what you loved to do when you were a child. Your gift may be compassion, being a good listener, a teacher, a singer, dancer, painter, mathematician, etc. Encourage the exploration of your potential. We are all unique and you have a special gift that nobody else has.
Once you become clear on what your purpose in life is, the universe will conspire to guide you towards fulfilling you dreams. Share your unique gift with others and you will be rewarded with deep inner fulfillment, happiness, and joy!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
~ Mark Twain
